Clothing Give-Away
The Piedmont church of Christ has been actively engaged in benevolence thru the clothing give-away for many years. We are a small church, thankful the Lord has blessed us with this opportunity to be of help in the community. Currently, our give-away is scheduled each:
- Thursday from 1 to 3 pm
- Saturday Periodically Announced.
- at 1405 North Main Street, Farmville Virginia
Infants to adult, clothes are available for every age in-between and arranged by size. We have shoes, hats and scarves and from time-to-time various other items are donated and freely made available. These items are distributed completely at not cost.
Our volunteers meet two days a week to go through all the donated clothes. They strive to discard any stained, ripped or inappropriate
items. The clothes aren’t in piles but are hanging, generally according to their size and category. All clothes are donated by members and our community. Those working in this area are all volunteers who spend several hours each week arranging them before each give away.
We ask you not to sell the clothes but use them to meet your needs.
We are guided by the Bible scripture Matthew 25:35-46, which highlights the importance of helping those in need. Matthew 25:35-46 for I was hungry, and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
37 Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’
40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
We have the facility, and the clothes. Our volunteers are eager to help and the congregation willing to support the effort. The Lord tells us to help all people as we have the opportunity, this is what we are trying to do.
